Hi, I'm Melvin Rooth.
UX/UI designer, recent CMD graduate, and — for five years before that — a chef mainly. I design the same way I used to run a service: pay attention, adjust fast and keep it human.
I graduated in Communication & Multimedia Design from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam in 2024. Before that, I spent about five years working in hospitality — mainly as a chef, with time behind the bar and on the floor too.
That's not a detour from design, it's where I started practicing it. Service work means reading what someone needs before they say it, adjusting in real time when something isn't working, and staying calm when a system breaks down mid-rush. Those are the same instincts I now bring to research and interaction design.
I'm currently looking for my first role as a UX/UI designer, and open to junior positions, internships that lead somewhere, and freelance projects in the meantime.
